Goodwill Peer Advocacy CenterThe Peer Advocacy Leadership (PAL) program is a consumer-led mental health program. The PAL program provides Peer supports to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness to become as independent and connected to their community. Peer staff teaches self-advocacy and assists with linkages to community resources. Peer Advocates provide a range of direct services, including hands-on skills training and targeted peer counseling to promote wellness & community integration. Services are office and community based, as well as provided at community partner settings.
The primary responsibility of the Senior Peer Advocate is to provide task supervision to the Peer staff in the Bronx office. The Senior Peer Advocate will function as an interdisciplinary team member while assisting the Program Director in providing person-centered advocacy services.
The Sr. Peer Advocate will function as a lead team member.
Providing support to staff around recovery principles; assist clients and walk-ins in articulating their goals, learning and practicing new skills, modeling effective coping techniques, exhibit competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills.
- Assist with site oversight and day to day task supervision for assigned work location.
- Complete and submit all required documentation with service delivery
- Assists with program promotion by identifying community partners & marketing services to outside agencies and walk-in consumers.
- Assist Program Director in maintaining program statistics for monthly, quarterly & yearly reports for PAL Program.
- Coordinates Team Monthly events and special workshop/groups
- Provides supplemental trainings to staff as needed and directed
- Coordinates workflow of intakes in both PAL offices
- Is aware of and provides updates on peer professional issues including changes in state peer certification, Academy of Peer modules calendar and events, etc.
- Provides individual assistance and guidance directly to consumers with psychiatric disabilities and co-occurring disorders with the goal of promoting self-sufficiency and community integration.
- Maintains a caseload of 12-15 individuals
- Run/ facilitate 2 groups weekly
- Other duties and assignments as may be assigned at the sole discretion of the employer
