Peer Counselor
Federation of OrganizationsFederation of Organizations is seeking a part time Peer Counselor to provide services at the new Apartment Treatment Program. This is a multi-site position and will involve work in the field as well as travel to sites in Far Rockaway, Queens OR Suffolk County.

REPORTS TO: Program Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Residential Services
HOURS: Part-Time Flexible (Mon 10a-3p, Tues 12:30p-5:30p & Sat 10a-3p)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Personal or shared experience with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues. Ability and desire to assist others in mastery of independent living skills and the personal recovery process . Understanding of peer support, self-help philosophy. Clean, valid NY State Driver’s License. Fingerprinting, criminal record check, approval from NYS Office of Mental Health.
JOB FUNCTION:
Provide positive role model of community functioning, informal counseling, peer support and ADL Training in a scattered-site licensed residential program providing transitional housing to people with psychiatric disabilities.
