Outreach Specialist

We are searching for a passionate, creative, energetic, goal-oriented, people person to provide HIV-related testing, referral services, extensive community outreach, and engagement with priority populations. Must have strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills. This position is a full-time Outreach Specialist for the AAMA Prevention and Counseling Minorities Action Program in Houston, Texas.

The Minorities Action Program (MAP) HIV outreach team provides outreach services to special priority populations while conducting targeted outreach (non-clinical and non-traditional settings). Services include HIV and Syphilis testing, risk reduction counseling, information dissemination, prevention education, referrals and resource linkage for substance abuse, treatment, housing, medical benefits, PEP/PrEP, and public health screening.

Qualifications Include: Must have a High school diploma or equivalent, college preferred, and at least 1 year of outreach experience. Required to have the minimum training hours upon hire stipulated by the Texas Department of Health to provide services to individuals at risk for HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Required to pass a phlebotomy course and be willing and able to draw blood. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and the ability to drive our vehicles, complete a drug screen, and background check.

Strongly prefer bilingual in Spanish.
