Position Overview:                                   

The Certified Peer Specialist/ Peer Care Manager works in concert with the Director of CORE & HCBS and the Team to provide support, services, and link Members to resources in their home or community. CORE & HCBS staff use a person-centered, trauma informed model of care, which emphasizes and supports a person’s potential for recovery by optimizing quality of life and reducing symptoms of behavioral health conditions through empowerment, choice, and health and wellness goals.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • The Certified Peer/Peer Care Manager must have at minimum a New York Certified Peer Specialist (NYCPS) Provisional Certification within 3 months of hire.
  • It is expected that full NYCPS Certification will be obtained within 1year as per the guidelines of the NYS Academy of Peers
  • Must have own car, a valid driver’s license, and a driving record that is satisfactory to our insurance carrier.
  • NYS Justice Center Criminal History background Check clearance through fingerprinting search is required, in addition to clearance through the Protection of People with Special Needs Staff Exclusion List, the NYS Medicaid Exclusion List, and clearance by the NYS Office of Children and Family Services for instance of child abuse and/or neglect.
