The Family Peer Support Advocate (FPA) will provide six Family Support Services: engagement, bridging and transition support, community connections and natural supports, self-advocacy and empowerment, parent skill development, and promoting effective family driven practice. This position assists the FPN program in providing services to families in the areas where support and advocacy is needed, but do not require the full services of the Care Manager. Duties include escorting, advocacy, assisting families to access community resources, and family support. Accompaniment and transportation of children and families are essential components of the position.
Family Peer Support will be delivered by a New York State Credentialed Family Peer Advocate (FPA). To be eligible for the FPA Credential, the individual must demonstrate ‘lived experience’ as a parent or primary caregiver who has navigated multiple child serving systems on behalf of their child(ren) with social, emotional, developmental, health and/or behavioral healthcare needs. At a minimum, have a high school diploma, high school equivalency preferred or a State Education Commencement Credential. A valid driver’s license is required.
