Peer-Led Alternatives Training: Unionizing the Peer Workforce

Topic: Unionizing the Peer Workforce

Description: This interactive workshop is designed for peer support workers who are interested in understanding more about unionizing within the peer support field. Peer support workers face unique challenges in their roles, from job insecurity to underpayment to limited professional recognition. By exploring the fundamentals of unionizing, this workshop will guide you through what goes into forming a union, the benefits that many seek when pursuing unionization, and the ways that unions have altered working conditions for workers in similar sectors. This workshop will be geared towards non-supervisory staff interested in learning more about unionizing, though all union-curious are welcome.

Trainer: KC Carpenter

The purpose of this training series is to offer an opportunity to members to learn alternative practices, approaches, and ideas, that are rooted in the refreshed mission and vision of the National Association of Peer Supporters. This will be a chance for members to learn more about the direction in which N.A.P.S. is moving, build skills and knowledge, and earn continuing education credits. Each training will last 90 minutes and will incorporate knowledge sharing, participant engagement, and more.
