Virtual Training: We’re More than Our Recovery: Approaching Peer Support through an Intersectional Lens

In this session, we’ll discuss the importance of taking an intersectional approach to the provision and expansion of peer support services. We’ll explore the impact that various identities can have on people’s engagement with recovery and peer services, define intersectionality, and look at the impact of holding intersectional identities. Then, we’ll discuss how intersectional communities may respond to the expansion of peer support services and wrap up by talking about specific ways that peer specialists can provide services and engage with communities effectively.
